General Pre-Op Instructions

Follow these instructions carefully unless otherwise directed by our office:

Two Weeks Before Surgery

  • Stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen, and similar NSAIDs.
  • Avoid supplements like fish oil, vitamin E, St. John’s Wort, ginkgo biloba, and ginseng.
  • Do not smoke, vape, or use nicotine products.
  • Prepare your home recovery space.
  • Arrange for post-op transportation and care.
  • Notify the office of any cold, illness, or new medications.

One Week Before Surgery

  • Pick up any prescribed medications.
  • Limit alcohol intake and stay well hydrated.
  • Review your pre-op paperwork and ask any remaining questions.
  • Continue avoiding blood-thinning medications and supplements.

Night Before Surgery

  • Do not eat or drink after midnight (unless told otherwise).
