Benefits of BOTOX® Cosmetic

BOTOX® injections relax muscles in targeted areas on the face, resulting in the decrease or disappearance of minor creases, crow’s feet, and fine lines. BOTOX® Cosmetic injections are generally fast-acting and require little to no downtime. 3-D BOTOX® Cosmetic and Mini-BOTOX® Cosmetic

Dr. Vartanian’s “3-dimensional BOTOX® injection” is an advanced way to improve on traditional BOTOX® injections. As a facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Vartanian uses his in-depth, three-dimensional knowledge of the face to inject at different levels for maximal BOTOX® Cosmetic effectiveness. This method of injecting BOTOX® Cosmetic can result in superior, customized effects.

Dr. Vartanian explains, “Injecting BOTOX® Cosmetic is not like throwing darts at a predetermined location as described in some manual. BOTOX® for Non-Cosmetic Uses

Dr. Vartanian is also experienced in the non-cosmetic application of BOTOX®, such as for migraine headaches, hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), and TMJ Disorder issues, to name a few.

BOTOX for Migraines

BOTOX® has been shown to be quite effective for treating certain migraine headaches. When administered correctly, BOTOX® can actually prevent the onset of many migraine headaches and reduce the number and severity of attacks – all without the side effects of typical migraine medicines. Dr. Vartanian knows the various trigger points and injection locations for migraine sufferers. For many of our patients, BOTOX® is a miracle drug that alleviates their migraines.

BOTOX® for Hyperhidrosis

BOTOX® can be used to decrease excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) in the forehead, armpits, palms, soles, and other areas. In patients with hyperhidrosis, overactive sweat glands and sweating can become a social handicap and a source of embarrassment. BOTOX® can temporarily reduce or eliminate the ability of sweat glands to sweat. Dr. Vartanian knows the proper dosage and injection depth for various hyperhidrosis treatments. BOTOX® can also be effective for reducing bruxism (teeth grinding) and other temporomandibular joint (TMJ) strain problems that can occur in some patients.

Dysport®

Dysport® works in very much the same way as BOTOX® Cosmetic and offers many of the same advantages. Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, this injectable treatment temporarily prevents facial muscles from contracting, hence improving signs of wrinkles in the treatment areas. With Dysport® injections, signs of wrinkles and fine lines can be significantly reduced for a smoother, more youthful appearance. Like BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport® treatments take only minutes to complete, and there is usually no downtime required for the great majority of patients. Dr. Vartanian injects Dysport® following the same 3-D BOTOX® Cosmetic principles and proven techniques.

Results can last for up to 3-4 months (anecdotally, somewhat longer than BOTOX® Cosmetic), and can be maintained with follow-up treatments. For all practical purposes, BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport® work the same way, with some patients preferring one or the other based on their own experiences. Dr. Vartanian was one of the investigators in the FDA studies leading to the approval of Dysport® for cosmetic use in the US. As such, Dr. Vartanian has had longer and much more in-depth experience with Dysport® and its benefits than many other practitioners.

XEOMIN®

XEOMIN® (incobotulinumtoxinA) is another medicine used to weaken facial muscles that cause or worsen wrinkles, and it is used just like BOTOX® Cosmetic and Dysport®. XEOMIN®’s duration of action and longevity seem to be just like BOTOX® Cosmetic. Its active protein is smaller and less complex than that of BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport®. XEOMIN® offers patients an excellent alternative to BOTOX® Cosmetic or Dysport® and typically lasts about three months. The injection technique and experience are identical to BOTOX® Cosmetic.

BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® Recovery and Results

There will typically be no downtime necessary following your BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, or XEOMIN® injection procedure. Due to Dr. Vartanian’s great experience and technical precision, post-treatment complications such as the risk of bruising and over-treatment are almost eliminated. Optimal results most commonly appear within five days of your treatment, although deeper wrinkles may take longer to disappear and may need skin fillers or other additional treatments. The aesthetic benefits generally last (for most patients) an average of three to four months, and can be maintained with follow-up treatments.

What is recovery like?

There is typically no downtime associated with BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® treatments, and you can expect to immediately return to your normal daily activities.

How long do results last?

Results are often apparent for an average of three months. Dr. Vartanian uses a more concentrated dosage of BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, or XEOMIN® in an attempt to deliver longer-lasting results for his patients. So, while the average longevity of BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, and XEOMIN® is often quoted to be around three months, we have many patients who enjoy results of much longer duration due to Dr. Vartanian’s injection technique and dosage. For best long-term results, a regular treatment schedule is recommended.
